Postgraduate Programme Master of Philosophy (MPhil)

Two years program includes a series of compulsory courses and engagement of research activity under supervision.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Four years program includes courses of the advanced level of research topics and conducting relatively independent research under the supervision.

Post-doctoral Fellow in Metabolic Medicine & Immunometabolism

Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in Metabolic Medicine and Immunometabolism in the Department of Medicine and the State Key Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, to commence as soon as possible for two to three years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree, preferably with experience in adipose biology, immunology, multi-omics and/or manipulation of genetically-modified mice.  The appointees will work on a research project to characterize heterogeneity of adipose tissues and to identify secretory factors involved in conversion of white adipocytes to brown adipocytes. Application with up-to-date C.V, or Enquiries about the posts could be sent to Miss Lily Li at lily46@hku.hk

Research Assistant I/II in Antibody Production & Characterization

Research Assistant I/II in Antibody Production and Characterization in the Department of Medicine and the State Key Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis or one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree or above in Biology, Chemistry or a related discipline, preferably with experience in generation and characterization of monoclonal or polyclonal antibodies.  The appointee will help to develop and validate innovative antibodies for research, diagnostic or therapeutic applications.

Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in Antibody and Protein Engineering in the Department of Medicine and the State Key Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, to commence as soon as possible for one to three years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. 

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree, preferably with experience in generation, production and humanization of monoclonal antibodies and/or protein engineering.  The appointees will work on an applied research project to develop therapeutic antibodies for metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. Senior Technical Officer / Technical Officer

Senior Technical Officer/Technical Officer (holding the functional title of Laboratory Manager) in the Department of Medicine and the State Key Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (to commence as soon as possible, on a two- to three-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)

Applicants should have a Master’s degree or above in Biology or Chemistry, preferably with experience in laboratory management and knowledge of animal studies.  Those with lower qualifications may be considered for appointment as Technical Officer.  

 

The appointee is expected to coordinate an eight-year inter-institutional project on “metabolic medicine” supported by RGC “Area of Excellence”, and to manage research platforms in the State Key Laboratory of Pharmacology Biotechnology.

Research Assistant I/II in Metabolic Research

Research Assistant I/II in Metabolic Research in the Department of Medicine and the State Key Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (to commence from January 2021, on a two-year fixed term basis or a one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal)

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree or above in Biological/Medical Sciences or a related discipline, preferably with experience in molecular biology, biochemistry and chemical biology.  Experience in cell culture and/or animal handling will be an advantage.
